View looking north from the summit of the Grand towards Teewinot, Mt. Owen, and Jackson Lake.

This sketch is a study for a large oil painting. From the summit of the Grand you are looking down on Mt Owen, ( 12928 feet) and Teewinot, (12325 feet). The ridge line between the two peaks is plain to see, and involves two long rappels. This summer we want to do the “Cathedral Traverse” which involves climbing Teewinot, traversing the ridge to Mt Owen dropping down 1000 feet into the Gunsight Notch, the lowest point between the Grand and Owen, then climbing up the Grandstand to the start of the North Ridge Route. The North Ridge is 5.8, 8 pitches and we intend to use the “Italian Cracks” variation.
