Human life itself may almost be pure chaos, but the work of the artist is to take these handfuls of confusion and disparate things and put them together in a frame to give them some kind of shape and meaning.
-Katherine Ann Porter, 1890 - 1980, American writer
I love the downard pull of Falling Ice glacier, down between the East and West Towers to Leigh Lake below, then to String Lake, and around the corner toward Jenny Lake. Counter-acting that is a diagonal that points from the foreground rocks, past Jackson Lake to the upper left, the mountains of Yellowstone. The pivot of this whole swirling landscape is the West Tower in the center.
