10,006 feet
24" by 24" | Available | Oil on Linen
Life isn't a bed of roses for a landscape painter. This morning the wind was so strong that I was forced to stop. The weather became overcast and raged for a while. But every cloud has a silver lining as they say since it has given me the chance to have a short talk with you.
-Alfred Sisley, 1839 - 1899, French painter
At 10,000 feet trees give way to the high alpine regions, stark and unearthly in their beauty. I hunkered down on the ground in a stiff gale to do the pastel study for this painting.
